Marholm Meatloaf

Marholm Meatloaf
    200g (7oz) marrowfat dried peas, soaked
    450g (1lb) lean minced beef
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    10ml (2 teasp) beef stock granules
    2.5ml (½ teasp) chilli powder
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1 egg, size 3, beaten
    45ml (3 tablesp) wholemeal breadcrumbs
    1 green or red pepper,
    de-seeded and finely chopped
    200g (7oz) can tomatoes, chopped
    5ml (1 teasp) tomato purée

Cook dried peas according to packet instructions. Drain, then mash peas in a large mixing bowl. Add all the remaining ingredients and mix well. Transfer to a large 25.5cm x 15cm (10" x 6") greased and lined loaf tin. Cook in the oven 180º C / 350º F Gas Mark 4 for 55 minutes

Cool. Serve with salad.
