PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

Saxon Agriculture Ltd. is a well established trading company. On 1st March 1999 a new parent company was formed called Bairds Malt Limited. Into this was placed the shareholding's of Hugh Baird and Sons, Moray Firth Maltings Ltd, Saxon Agriculture Ltd, Scotgrain Ltd, and Mark Lawrence Grain Ltd.

The New Company (Bairds Malt Ltd) is now jointly owned by Scottish and Newcastle plc (40%) and ConAgra Malt Inc (60%).

ConAgra Malt are the biggest maltster in the world, and Bairds Malt Ltd will be purchasing approximately 500,000 tonnes p.a. of malting barley from U.K. crop.

We are involved in two main activities:
  • Supplying as-grown & re-cleaned cereal, oilseed and pulse seed to the wholesale and retail market from selected premium growers. We act as the interface between breeders and the market place and can enhance market penetration through our close relationships both with our parent company and many other end consumers.

  • Specialist trading of cereals, oilseeds and pulses to human consumption, pet food and industrial manufacturers both in the UK and to export markets around the World.
